My name is Brian Hall and I am the son of the late Don Hall. My Dad passed away at the age of 65 on February 7, 2003 due to brain cancer. The reason for this letter is to explain to you about a charitable fundraiser that several people and I have started in his name.
First of all, I would like to tell you about my Dad and what a great man he was. Dad impacted many people and because of that he is very much missed. He was always involved in sports especially on a local level in Tiffin, Ohio. Dad was on the "chain gang" at Tiffin Columbian High School for 37 years. He was given the "Pete Moore Service Award" by the Northwest Ohio Football Coaches Association for everything he did for Columbian football. One big reason that he loved to run the chains was that he got to see many kids come through the high school program that he once coached in Tiffin Little League Football (T.L.L.F.). My Dad, my Uncle Don Mitchell and a few others founded T.L.L.F. in 1973 and Dad coached for 15 years. Many kids have told me that Dad served as a great role model and sometimes father figure. I can remember my Dad taking kids home after practice, picking them up for practice, buying shoes etc., and just treating them as one of his own. We have received many cards from former players stating what an impact my Dad had on their lives.
With this outpouring of love, appreciation and respect for my Dad, I am happy to have started the Don Hall Memorial Weekend. This includes a football camp, Golf Outing and scholarship dinner. Proceeds will be given to the T.L.L.F. Program, deserving students at Calvert and Columbian High Schools, and F.A.C.T (financial assistance for cancer treatment). This is now the Sixth year for this event. The last Five years we have had a great time and we were able to raise enough money to buy the league the Don Hall/Bing Fowler Scoreboard, new concession stand, and field goal posts as well as new equipment. We were also able to make donations to FACT and a private donation to a former T.L.L.F. player with acute leukemia. The donations also ensure that the league remains free for all kids. The "extras" have been great additions and we will continue to upgrade sound systems, equipment etc., all to enrich the kids' experience. This year's events are July 10 and July 11, 2009. Any signed memorabilia you could provide would be greatly appreciated and please mail items to the address below.
Thank you for your time and please do not hesitate to call me at 330-328-6757 or Betty Hall 419-447-5095.
Sincerely, Brian Hall
